Start with rust and dark denim
The rust chunky-knit sweater appears above dark high-waisted denim in the photograph. The warm top stands clearly against the dark foundation. A brown or black bag can accompany it; another warm accent is possible but unnecessary to explain the sweater's colour.
For less darkness, try mid-blue jeans. They make the combination feel more everyday while rust remains the main colour. Compare pieces you already own before looking for a new bag. A familiar neutral addition may be enough because the knit's texture and colour already provide considerable interest.
Avoid overloading the high waistband
A thick sweater can become heavily compressed beneath a high waist. Begin with a small front tuck and leave the sides relaxed. If that creates a bulky roll, wear the hem outside or choose a shorter sweater instead of tightening a belt further.
Sit down and lean forward. The waistband and knit should remain comfortable together. A higher rise does not oblige you to keep the waist completely visible. The relaxed version may be more useful when your day includes frequent changes between standing, sitting and carrying a bag.
Plan the collar and outerwear together
The roll neck already occupies space around your neck. Try it with the intended coat and see whether the collar and lapels sit comfortably together. An extra scarf may help outdoors, but it should not create so much material that turning your head feels awkward.
A removable outer layer is useful when entering heated rooms. The sweater's rust colour and visible stitches cannot establish whether it is warm enough alone. Choose the base layer and footwear for your real day. Simple closed shoes keep the outfit calm, but their fit with the trouser length and your route matters most.
