Choose the relaxed effect deliberately
A loose grey knit and ripped blue jeans create a clearly casual combination in the photograph. The sweater stays quiet while the jeans introduce the visible breaks. You do not need more distressed pieces or bold prints to make the outfit interesting.
For a tidier version, use the same sweater idea with jeans without rips. Changing one garment retains the grey-and-blue palette while shifting the result. Choose according to your day rather than trying to force conspicuous jeans into another setting through increasingly formal accessories.
Assess the hem rather than judging all looseness alike
A relaxed sweater can fall outside the trousers. Check whether it gathers beneath you while sitting or repeatedly slips backwards while walking. A small front tuck may reveal the waistband when the knit is not too bulky for it.
If you prefer not to tuck, try a slightly shorter sweater. Ripped jeans do not automatically require a fitted top. The combination can remain generous as long as the sleeves finish practically and you can reach pockets or fastenings without continually pushing fabric out of the way.
Rips do not provide coverage
A warm sweater does not automatically make exposed areas in the jeans comfortable. For cold journeys, intact trousers may be the simpler choice. If you want another layer underneath, check its visibility and comfort deliberately rather than improvising after you have left home.
A plain jacket and suitable closed shoes complete an everyday version. Choose them for your route and the ground, checking the actual trouser length with the pair you intend to wear. In wet conditions, a dry, manageable hem matters; a relaxed appearance does not require trouser legs that drag along the surface.
